On episode 9, we interview Detroit-based artist Edethism (aka Dino Valdez Jr.). Known as a student of violence, Valdez was born in Detroit. He grew up studying martial arts from his father and abstract art from his mother. Today, his work strikes a balance between war and peace. Through a wide range of mediums, his work touches on themes of race, culture, futurism, and existentialism.

His process requires both digital and traditional tools to complete his paintings and sculptures, most of which are created in his home studio. A proud art school dropout, his methodology is comprised of techniques learned from assisting professional creatives from around the world and rigorous studies in calligraphy, illustration, and graphic design.lligraphy, illustration, and graphic design.
