Zimbiri
Using traditional Bhutanese materials and imagery, contemporary artist Zimbiri creates visually stunning paintings that mirror her personal experiences. Using the tiger, a symbol of luck and prosperity, the Bhutan-based artist repetitively incorporates the animal into her work. Contemporary and traditional art forms merge seamlessly throughout Zimbiri’s art practice who is actively involved in her local art scene in Bhutan alongside exhibiting with Nature Morte gallery in India.

About the Artist
Zimbiri is a contemporary artist from Bhutan, known for her distinctive integration of traditional Bhutanese motifs with modern artistic approaches. Her work explores themes of Bhutanese culture, identity, and heritage through a contemporary lens.
Born and raised in Bhutan, Zimbiri's artistic journey is deeply influenced by the cultural and spiritual traditions of her homeland. Her art addresses themes of identity, heritage, and the evolving nature of cultural symbols.
Zimbiri graduated from Wheaton College with a double major in Economics and Fine Arts.
Zimbiri made history as the first female artist to have a solo exhibition in Bhutan, marking a significant milestone in the Bhutanese art scene.
Her works have been exhibited both in Bhutan and internationally. She has had exhibitions in India, Hong Kong, UK and Taiwan with distinguished galleries, showcasing her ability to blend traditional Bhutanese materials and techniques with contemporary themes.
Zimbiri uses traditional Bhutanese canvas and earth pigments to create her pieces, maintaining authenticity while embracing new forms of expression. Her work serves as a bridge between the past and the present, preserving Bhutanese cultural heritage while integrating contemporary ideas.
Zimbiri continues to create works that express her journey, discovery of self, realizations, and observations of her mind, inviting viewers to engage with these themes in their own lives
